It has advanced features such as enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads autonomously). It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads. The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has an intuitive mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in mornings before work or during the night when you're trying to sleep. It's also quite expensive, though it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and look better. If you're willing to put up with a little more noise and some extra cost it's a efficient two-in-one device that should delight most. iRobot L20 Ultra The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take charge of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads. The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to create floorplans and identify obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection, though this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and could be confused with power cords or obstructions. It also mopses using only one pad and a reciprocating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the mop cleaners with robots that we've examined. It's also self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying, washable base. The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate the mapping process, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any “no go” areas that you have marked on the map.
